Movie Mob

Looking for a place to chill with your girlfriend? Wait no longer! Start going to MovieMob! So Petrine and I went to MovieMob yesterday. What exactly is MovieMob? It's this big screening of movies and you can just drive in to watch the movie, for free! All you have to do is tune your radio to the frequency that they will tell you and tadah, you are ready for a movie under the stars.

This was our view from inside the car. The screen looks small from the picture but trust me when the movie starts, it's really clear and you don't have to worry about being blocked by other cars. The marshallers will position you properly when you park your car. The general rule is that all cars are forbidden to move once they have secured a parking lot. 

Just look at the amount of cars there. Oh it was held at F1 villlage yesterday, it's somewhere near Garden's By The Bay. As this event is sponsored by Honda, almost all the Hondas got priority seatings so they were all in the first few rows.

Before the movie started, there was also a car-boot sale going on for dirt cheap prices, mainly clothes and car accessories. People would usually bring their own food to the movie but fret not, there are also booths selling hotdogs and popcorn if you forgot to bring your own food. 

What is you don't own a car? There is a lawn specially reserved for people to spread their mats and enjoy their movie in the open. Nonetheless this whole event is an interesting concept and I think I'll be going to enjoy more free movies. Yesterday's movie wasn't that good cause it's "The Adventures of Tin Tin". Didn't really understand the movie but I'll be looking forward to upcoming events!

Worst Movie

I usually pick my movies really carefully but it just so happened that I have 2 free movie vouchers today and I decided to have a little movie date with Petrine and we watched the most boring movie ever. The entire movie is a disaster. Even before the movie started, the bubble tea we tried to smuggle into the cinema dropped on the floor right in front of the staff and we were so damn embarrassed. But that's out of the point. 

I used to think all Ip Man related shows were awesome and this being like some documentary of Ip Man's life, I thought I was going to like this show until I woke up halfway through the show. See? I didn't even know when I fell asleep. Usually even if a movie is boring, I'll sleep halfway through the show, wake up and continue watching. I'll probably only catch half the show. Whereas for this show, I woke up, watched for a while and left. I couldn't catch what this entire show was about. So guys, please don't watch this show, ever.

Taxi Taxi

Caught this movie last night and it was $8 well spent. You know recently I've been trying to save up cause I only get a miserable $450+ allowance from NS. So I haven't really watch a movie for a long time, I think the last one was Ah Boys To Men. (okay that wasn't too long back). I really like local productions and I wouldn't miss any one if possible. 

This show really caught my attention especially when Dr Jia Jia is one of the actors. I've been following him for quite a while and he's incredibly talented and now that he's recognized locally, I feel really proud of him. Anyone else thinks he's incredibly talented please Kee Chiew as well!

Okay, back to this show. I totally changed my perspective of taxi drivers after watching this show. I still have this secret little hatred deep down in my heart against them cause some of them drive really dangerously and I've had a really close shave with one. Almost caused me my life back then. 

Many people in Singapore don't want to be classified as low class citizens and hold jobs like hawkers, taxi drivers, cleaners etc. Without these people, Singapore wouldn't survive at all. Many of the taxi drivers actually earn more than what diploma holders are earning even without a diploma. 

After this show, I have my new found respect for taxi drivers, especially new taxi drivers. I'm sure most of us here wouldn't want to be a taxi driver for life unless you really love driving that much. The least we can do for them is to give them the basic respect they deserve. Don't criticize them when you think they took a longer route just to earn your money. Don't litter in the taxis. Don't stress the taxi drivers because you are late.

I'm guilty of all those pointers above. But from today onwards, I'm going to have a new found tolerance for taxi drivers. Lets all appreciate the hard work that taxi drivers have put in to contribute to the Singapore's transport system. (Afterall, they are the ones who you turn to if the MRT breaks down again)
